Will Advocate for Seniors Statewide in New Position with NH Legal Assistance
After 15 dedicated years of serving clients at Butenhof & Bomster, PC, Judith Jones is taking on a new role with New Hampshire Legal Assistance as their Home and Community Based Services Specialist. “This is an extraordinary opportunity to work on key policy issues, which impact many individuals who need long-term services and supports in New Hampshire.” The position itself is a first for the organization, funded by a new grant opportunity.
It was not an easy decision. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked at Butenhof & Bomster with a dedicated, talented, and compassionate team of professionals. As difficult as it is to leave my colleagues, the hardest part of this decision was knowing that I would not be serving my individual clients which has been my passion and joy, but I know each and every one will be well taken care of.”
As a Home and Community Based Services Specialist, Judith will be developing and advocating for policy initiatives at the state level to improve access to home care services. “Most individuals prefer to remain at home rather than move to a nursing facility. My new position involves identifying barriers to securing Medicaid Home and Community Based Services and finding the right mechanisms to eliminate the identified obstacles.” According to Judith, the time is ripe. “Today, there’s a perfect storm of rising need with limited availability of direct care workers. It’s the ideal time to focus on this critical issue.”
Judith’s extensive experience in elder law and related issues over her 26-year law career as well as her own experience as a family caregiver have uniquely prepared her for her new role. “In addition to my own family, I’ve learned something from every client and will be taking that experience and knowledge to advocate for all.”
Ann Butenhof and Judith Bomster, the founding partners of Butenhof & Bomster, wish Judith Jones well in her new endeavor: “Working side by side with Judith Jones to best serve the interests of our clients has been a true privilege. Judith’s skills and experience uniquely equip her for her new collaborative role in advancing public policy to serve the needs of our community as a whole. Although losing a valued colleague is never easy, we are pleased the policy work she will be engaged in is so well aligned with the mission of Butenhof & Bomster. While her departure from the firm is bittersweet on a professional level, we wish her well and look forward to future collaboration.”
